Become a local champion for nature
Applications now open
Nature Champions is a six-month programme for young people (aged 16-35) who want to speak up for nature, influence local decisions and play an active role in campaigns that make a real difference in their communities.
We’re looking for five confident communicators to work closely with our team on our campaign to reduce pesticide use in public spaces.
This project is focused on connecting local voices with local councils, and supporting young people to step into visible leadership on environmental issues that matter to them.

What is a Nature Champion?
Nature Champions are local spokespeople who help bring our campaigns to life on the ground through social media, local press, community conversations and direct engagement with their local council.
We’re recruiting five Nature Champions from across the UK, each based in a different constituency that aligns with our council engagement work. We’ll match Champions with areas where local action can realistically move the dial.
We’re looking for people with a natural flair for creating engaging content who want to build their profile as a campaigner. Our ideal Nature Champion is comfortable talking to camera (or keen to get there), eager to develop their campaigning skills, and happy to be visible in their local community speaking up about the impact of pesticides in public spaces.
We’ll support you in growing your profile as a campaigner with training, mentoring, campaign materials and paid amplification of your social media content.

Who we’re looking for:
-
Aged 16-35
-
Passionate about nature, activism and community action
-
Confident communicating or keen to build confidence
-
Love to create social media content
-
Interested in campaigning, media or public engagement
-
Based in a local authority where councils are actively making decisions about pesticide use
-
You do not need a large following or formal experience

Our Nature Champions will:
Encourage people in your area to take part in campaign actions, including emailing their council as part of Your Wild Streets.
Create and share content that brings local nature issues to life (social posts, short videos, press quotes, community moments).
Help generate visibility through local media and social media and build your profile as a nature campaigner.
Take part in our Urban Nature Day and a Parliamentary reception in Westminster.
You will also share short monthly updates so we can track impact and support you properly
Time commitment: around 1-3 hours per week on average, flexible across the month.
