Work For UK Youth For Nature

UK Youth for Nature is a youth-led organisation of 16-35 year olds across the UK. Our main objective is to create the political pressure needed, from young people, on governments and politicians to stop and reverse the nature crisis in the UK. 

 

UK Youth for Nature has two main goals: develop and deliver creative campaigning activity with our volunteers to drive change for nature, and training and educating our team to give them the skills to campaign effectively.

 

Our organisation has grown exponentially over the last three years and we are in a significant scale-up period, including growing volunteer numbers, funding and volume of campaigning activity. Over the last three years we have undertaken significant legal, financial, and organisational change to build the long term sustainability of the organisation both financially and at an organisational structural level.

Available Roles:

Head of Campaigns

Time commitment

  • Start date: 12th October 2026, for 12 months (including 8 weeks probation) with a strong likelihood of renewal

  • Part time: 3 days (24 hours) per week with flexibility on when these working hours are used, our team operates different working hours

  • Location: remote UK with occasional UK travel.

 

Remuneration

  • Salary: £35,190 (pro rata)

  • Annual leave: 20 days annual leave with an additional office closure over Christmas and New Year

  • 3% pension contribution.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Help to build on and further develop our campaign strategy to ensure UK Youth for Nature has political impact for nature and wildlife through creative campaigning

  • Coordination: Alongside the co-directors, coordinate all campaigns and engagement with our partner’s campaigns

  • Leadership: Act as a leader for UKY4N, leading organising team meetings, campaigning partnerships and setting an example for our volunteers and staff.

  • Decision making: Be a confident decision maker, being able to explain why you have chosen to take a decision to the wider team. Whilst being able to manage the expectations and enthusiasm of our volunteers to ensure everyone feels heard and respected

  • Partnerships: Working with our co-directors to maintain and develop relationships with partners across, and outside of, the environmental sector to build trust, knowledge and leadership in the sector

  • Planning: Develop and deliver the campaigns with clear campaign plans including; objectives, targets, tactics and communications and resources

  • Management: With the support of the co-directors, manage the recruitment and work of graphic designers, campaign co-ordinators, and external consultants

  • Community management: Support and work with our volunteers to ensure they are engaged and fulfilled in their volunteering journey

  • Monitoring: Understanding of how campaign delivery links to funder requirements and reporting cycles, with the ability to track and communicate progress against funded outcomes throughout the year

  • Communication/public speaking: Be one of our confident UKY4N voices on social media and in the press, participating in video and campaign asset production for social media as well as providing quotes/ being interviewed by the press

  • Research: Keep up to date with our policy and campaigning areas, highlighting and communicating campaigning opportunities to the wider organising team and volunteers.


 

Experience:

Essential:

  • Public affairs and targeted campaigning towards politicians 

  • Campaign strategy and campaign design

  • A good understanding of the environmental policy space

  • Working independently.

 

Desired:

  • Managing volunteers

  • Experience contributing to funding reports and applications

  • A confident public speaker and confident in leading meetings.

 

Additional information about this role:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required

  • Reports to: Ellen Bradley, co-director

  • We operate mostly on slack and google drive, so having a knowledge of these is useful

  • You will be joining a core team of 3 other people, two co-directors and 1 head of communications, as well as a large volunteer organising team.
